About 10 days ago I installed IE 7 at my home. I don't know if it is just my computer, but it takes longer to open the browser, to create new tabs and even to click on links if compared to IE 6.
The only things that I have installed is the Alexa Toolbar and the Google Toolbar.
Firefox is much, much faster.
Have you seen the same slow down when you installed IE 7?
UPDATE: Jamie (comment below) ask if I changed my start page. No I didn't, I always use "about:blank" as my homepage. I can't really confirm, but I'm start to think that Alexa Toolbar makes IE 7 super slow.
I think it's just you. Are your start pages the same? I noticed that when I have google for both, that IE 7 loads up faster. Also, were you using 3rd party for tabs on IE 6?

I've got the google toolbar installed, and I can see the same exact problems you are having.
The startup time and new tab time are both just horrible. There's a very visible delay of a few seconds no matter what.
I had also changed my homepage to blank as well, with no luck.
Please try uninstalling the toolbars, reboot and browse away. Wome 3rd-party toolbars and add-ins do things which really bring down the browser's performance. You can always reinstall them later if you want. Thanks,
